CAAT calls for investigation of use of Swedish weapons in Burma military operations
Human Rights, Peace, Democracy and Law, 12/12/2012
Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) demanded that Sweden immediately ascertain which third party country was involved in selling Swedish weapons to Burma, after a startling and damning revelation that these weapons were used in Burmese military operations against ethnic rebel groups.
Anne-Marie O’Reilly, CAAT Outreach Coordinator, added that Sweden needs reconsider its priorities:
“Why push exports which ultimately make the world less secure when similar skills and resources are needed for beneficial sectors such as renewable energy technology?”
