Supporting our Laureates
Addressing the root causes of problems has been the defining feature of the Right Livelihood Award from the very beginning. It is also the reason why so many of our Laureates often put themselves in danger. From Afghanistan to Uganda, they work in difficult circumstances, facing repressive governments and operating in war zones. They often oppose powerful political and corporate interests.
For the recipients, the internal network is one of the biggest advantages of the Right Livelihood Award. In order to facilitate networking among Right Livelihood Award Laureates, the Foundation organises anniversary conferences every five years. In the run-up to the 40th anniversary of the Award, the Foundation has been holding regional conferences since 2013 to foster closer cooperation among Laureates.
