RLA Asian Regional Conference, Mumbai

From 3 to 6 March, 19 Laureates (or their representatives) of the Right Livelihood Award based in Asia and the Pacific convened at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, the Right Livelihood College’s South Asian campus, for the third RLA regional conference.

The conference, made possible with the support of the Church of Sweden, brought the Laureates together to share their experiences and struggles in the fields of human rights, sustainable development, environmental justice, and interfaith dialogue, and to envision opportunities of cooperation. The Laureates engaged in internal sessions with working groups, met with several Mumbai-based civil society organisations, and participated in a panel discussion open to the public, “Transforming Livelihoods: Creating an Enabling Environment for Civil Society in the Asia-Pacific”.
