Water supply for Kalahari Bushmen
Human Rights, Sustainable Development, 07/09/2011
For the first time in nine years, the Kalahari Bushmen can drink from a well again that had been capped by the government in 2002.
Back then the Bushmen had been evicted from their ancestral lands in Botswana, likely in order to allow diamond mining in the area. Although a court ruled the eviction illegal in 2006, the Kalahari people couldn’t return because they lacked a steady source of water.
