Our Laureates contribute to sustainable development in different ways. We support their mission to amplify their impact.
The Right Livelihood Foundation envisions a just, peaceful and sustainable world for all. Since 1980, we work towards this vision by honouring and supporting courageous people who are solving global problems. Today, there are 178 Right Livelihood Award Laureates from 70 countries. All Laureates contribute to sustainable development in different ways. We support their mission to amplify their impact.
The activities that allow us to conduct our work – such as travelling, operating offices and investing money – naturally create impact as well. We consider environmental and social concerns in all our activities and follow a number of internal guidelines to do so.
In the beginning of 2018, we have initiated a process to further increase our sustainability performance. We are developing a sustainability strategy in order to reduce negative impacts of our work and seek synergies to increase positive impacts. We aim to strengthen our transparency and accountability by actively communicating achievements, challenges and opportunities along this journey.
We are currently revising and improving internal guidelines and will be making them available on this website. Each of the following areas will be highlighted:
- Travelling, especially flying
- Investments and fundraising
- Energy and water usage
- Technical equipment and office supplies
Continue reading our environmental travel policy, which is the first part of our sustainability strategy. Policies for the other areas will be published subsequently.
